Coalition of Services of the Elderly, Inc. (COSE)
is a Non Government Organization working with poor older persons in urban and rural areas in the Philippines
Basic Principle
COSE believes that it is important for older people to remain in the community to share their experiences and wisdom, and to teach us all about our own aging.
Vision
An Equitable society that upholds the rights and nurtures the potentials of older persons, recognizes the elderly as a significant sector and allows them to remain healthy, self-reliant, secure and free to love God and people.
COSE initiated community based programs (CBPE’s) among the elderly poor wherein older people care for each others health, advocacy, social, economic, funding, counseling and organizing needs. Within a few years, CBPE’s become self-sustaining and organizers of newly formed older people’s groups. The COSE networks with like minded groups whether government, non-government or people’s organizations working towards a national movement of older people who have a voice in their own lives.
COSE expanded its organizing work in the region like Davao, Agusan del Sur, Bacolod, Bicol, Pampanga, Cavite and Bulacan.
